Originally released on the now defunct Jazzgroove Records, Earshift Music are proud to partner with Undy to celebrate this high-point of mid-‘00s Sydney contemporary jazz. The release of Bloodshot coincides with the reissue of Undy’s modern masterpiece, 20th Century Dog’s debut 2005 album, Mad Stream. Undy has performed as a bassist on countless albums and released two albums with his afro-funk-jazz cult band ‘20th Century Dog’. Undy combines this experience with his deep love of funk, afro-beat, avant-garde jazz and 20th century classical music to create a style of production and composition unique to himself. He also appeared on numerous white label dance floor vinyl releases and the multi-million selling Verve Remixed series. No stranger to dance music, Undy spent the early 2000’s working in the UK with ‘broken beat’ revolutionaries such as Bugz in the Attic, Kaidi Tatham, Dego McFarlane, Seiji and now L.A. It developed into this album when collaborations with Inês and Al completed the cycle.” Making beats calmed my mind and purged the creative desires I feel in the wee hours. As Undy explains, “I would come home from working at the club and have to unwind. This stripped back, groove laden album provides glimpses of the inner workings of a visionary musical mind.Ĭreated mostly between the hours of midnight and 4 am, Bloodshot started as a beats experiment and grew into a full-blown album. Bloodshot features Undy on beats, bass and keys, alongside vocals from neo-soul/jazz singer Inês and additional keys from Alan Goodman. A profound influence on the Australian jazz scene for over 30 years as one of the country’s finest bassists and co-founder of Sydney’s beloved Venue 505, Undy has had a long history of working with top shelf electronic dance artists. Bloodshot is the latest release from bassist-producer Cameron Undy.
